H.E. Catherine Raper was appointed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women, Senator the Hon Marise Payne, as Australia’s first female Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (ROK) on December 16, 2020.
Ms. Raper is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and most recently headed the COVID-19 Coordination Unit. Prior to that she was First Assistant Secretary, Europe and Latin America Division. She has previously served overseas as Head of Post in Taipei, and earlier in Washington, The Hague and at the Australian Permanent Mission to the World Trade Organization, Geneva.
Julie commenced her role as Austrade’s Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner for Korea and Mongolia in January 2021. Her role is focused on attracting Korean investors to Australia and growing Australia’s goods and services trade to Korea and Mongolia.
Since her commencement with Austrade in 2020, Julie previously had worked as a Head of Austrade Centre of Excellence in Health in Melbourne, Australia.
Julie has almost 30 years of Health and Biotech experience before joining Austrade, including roles at the University of Melbourne, Neurology Ireland Limited, Florey Neuroscience Institutes, Victorian Cancer Biobank, Australian Phenomics Network and Bionic Vision Technologies Pty Ltd.
Prior to that Julie has over 9 years of Marketing, Sales and Trade professions at ICI Australia and Abbot Diagnostics Division.
Julie has completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Applied Biology) from RMIT, Graduate Diploma in Business (Marketing) from Monash University and Master of Engineering from RMIT.
Chris Raciti is Country Head of ANZ Korea, commenced in November 2017 . As CEO Korea, Chris is responsible for leading the Korean franchise, driving Korean corporate relationships across the region and growing ANZ’s access to Korean FI liquidity.
Chris relocated to Seoul from Hong Kong where he has held senior roles in ANZ’s market leading Loan Syndication and Structured Finance business. He has been with ANZ for more than 15 years, primarily within the Institutional business in Australia, Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Chris holds a Bachelor of International Business and a Bachelor of Commerce from Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia. Chris has also studied in Korea and Japan.
Kelly is Director & Branch Representative at IFM Investors Korea, having joined IFM in 2017. Kelly has 20+ years’ experience in the private sector and international development spanning Asia, Africa, and Europe. She has worked in the life insurance, commercial banking, and asset management industry, as well as the UN system.
Prior to joining IFM Investors, Kelly was General Manager at Samsung Life Insurance headquarters where she worked for almost 10 years. Prior to Samsung Life she worked at the United Nations Development Programme in Kenya as well as Shinhan Financial Group’s Investor Relations team.
Kelly holds a BA in Western History (Korea University), an MBA from INSEAD, and is a CFA charterholder since 2004.
Rowan Petz is the Executive Director at the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea. Rowan brings a wealth of diverse experience and knowledge into his role having initially studied as a fraud investigator before moving into the currency management sector for six years.
Rowan’s passion for international trade and politics led him to a degree in International Relations from La Trobe University, Melbourne. Having received the Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong and the Victorian Government’s Hamer scholarship awards, Rowan was granted the opportunity to study International Relations and Korean language at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea.
With a strong passion for wanting to further strengthen the Australian-Korean relationship, Rowan commenced work at Chamber in 2016.
