Joel has spent the majority of his career specialising in commodity and economic market analysis. His well-earned reputation in the industry has been gained through being able to translate complex issues into concise conclusions.
American by birth, Australian by choice – Joel brings an international perspective to Cobalt Blue. His extensive career portfolio includes 12 years working in top-tier global financial institutions (Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank) covering all major metals and bulk commodities – including key battery raw materials. For the five years prior to joining Cobalt Blue, he was with Rio Tinto (Singapore and Melbourne) where, as a Senior Manager, he led teams within the internal Market Analysis Group that were tasked with conducting and communicating market and business analysis to the executive leadership. In this role, Joel directly supported the CEO with economic and commodity market analysis.
Tony Linnane is the Executive Director Strategy Performance and Industry Development in the NSW Resources group in the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
Tony has spent 19 years working with the NSW Government in policy and legislative reform, regulation, service delivery, industry engagement, investment attraction and industry evelopment. He has played a key role in leading various significant projects and legislative, policy and operational reforms relating to the mining and petroleum sectors in NSW.
Tony has qualifications in business, law and risk management and is focused on continuing to deliver strategic approaches that will support NSW as a destination for investment in safe and sustainable exploration and mining.
Jeneta Owens has over 18 years of mining and exploration experience, working on a range of deposit styles and commodities focussed on the east coast of Australia. For more than a decade, her particular focus has been on porphyry copper-gold, orogenic and epithermal gold and rare earth element (REE) exploration in NSW. Ms Owens has lead the exploration and geological functions at Northparkes’ Cu-Au mine located in the central west of NSW and Sandfire Resources’ NSW exploration projects. Prior to joining Godolphin as the Managing Director, Ms Owens operated her own geological consultancy, conducting strategic evaluation, exploration management and project assessment for junior explorers in NSW.
Ms Owens is a qualified geologist and member of both the AusIMM and AIG.
Sam Riggall is Chief Executive Officer of Sunrise Energy Metals Limited, an ASX-listed company developing one of Australia’s largest integrated battery raw materials projects.
Previously a senior executive at Ivanhoe Mines and Rio Tinto, Mr Riggall holds law and economics degrees from the University of Melbourne, an MBA from Melbourne Business School and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
Mr Riggall currently serves as a Steering Committee member of the World Materials Forum based in France and a non-executive director of Clean TeQ Water Limited and VRB Energy.
Rowena was appointed ASM Chief Executive Officer in July 2022 having joined the company in July 2021 as Chief Operating Officer. She has over 30 years’ experience in the mining and minerals processing sector, including in a range of senior roles in strategy, operations and commercial. Prior to joining ASM, Rowena was Chief Sustainability Officer at South32, accountable for sustainability strategy, risk management and HSE business processes. Other past roles include Vice President Supply at South32, General Manager BHP’s Kwinana Nickel Refinery, and operational leadership roles within Rio Tinto’s aluminium smelting business.
